Artist Shuai Xu was born in China in 1995, and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, China, in 2018. Currently, he is studying in the art department of Claremont Graduate University in the United States. His works focus on the invisible world, and a lot of inspiration comes from his dreams.
“I like to use art to express the invisible world, the harmonious and symbiotic relationship between man and nature, man and the universe, and to infinitely magnify the scenes in my dreams into reality in an artistic way,” Xu explains. “My works include oil paintings, composite materials, sculptures, installations and Earth art.”
In his Pubescence series of figures in oil paint, Xu decided to make the figures appear blurred rather than concrete. “I want to record the memory of time,” he says, adding,
“I use this series of works to draw the moments in my life that will be forgotten.” —
