From "The Gifts They Bring" series, a barn owl with two blades of wheat in his talons. Through rodent predation, the barn owl increases wheat crop yields and reduces the need for rodenticides. In turn, this decreases rodent borne and pesticide induced diseases. The owl brings us a healthy grain yield and health.

From "The Gifts They Bring" series, a red tailed hawk puzzled together with wild flowers. Among other benefits, red tailed hawks help to keep the ecosystem in balance by keeping small rodent populations in balance. Rodents too play important roles but like all things, their populations must be kept in balance for their ecosystem to maintain a healthy equilibrium. Hawks impact wildflowers whose seeds, flowers and fruits are consumed by rodents. The flowers provide habitat and food for the insects that feed the small birds and rodents upon which the red tailed hawk relies. Flowers and hawks need each other; and like so many relationships in nature, theirs is not apparent at a glance.
