A sighting of some of the last few orange orchards in California.

Montana de Oro Poppies
Rick J. Delanty
acrylic
14 x 14 inches (L x W)
Montana de Oro is a spectacularly beautiful State Park near San Luis Obispo, Ca, with an extensive trail system.
Peace and Purity
Rick J. Delanty
acrylic
16 x 19.25 inches (L x W)
This piece is paired in the "Inspired by History" exhibition with Conrad Buff's "Still Life." I selected this subject as it was unusual for Buff to deal with the still life, as landscape was his usual motif.
Revelation
Rick J. Delanty
acrylic
8 x 6 inches (L x W)
In the "Inspired by Exhibition," William Ritschel's painting features a moon peeking through the trees, as my painting does. The scene for my painting presented itself near Mendocino, CA.
Seal Rocks, Laguna
Rick J. Delanty
oil
16 x 20 inches (L x W)
I wanted to stand in the easel-space of Frank Cuprien to paint Seal Rocks, so I drove to Crescent Bay Park and sat up next to the railing, right in Cuprien's footprints, as the sun went down.
Serenity, China Cove
Rick J. Delanty
oil
20 x 24 inches (L x W)
The Big Sur Coast must have been quite a site for Nebraska-born Carl Sammons. I was born in California, but whenever I am there in Big Sur, it's quite a site for me, too--especially above the turquoise waters of China Cove.
Sycamores, Caspers
Rick J. Delanty
oil
15 x 30 inches (L x W)
Marion Wachtel, with her wonderful watercolor of sycamores, created the beautiful painting that led to my own painting of "Sycamores, Caspers" for the "Inspired by History" exhibition. The site is a county park near San Juan Capistrano.
Torrey Pines
Rick J. Delanty
oil
16 x 19.5 inches (L x W)
I found the spot very near where Alfred Mitchell had painted his work, also titled "Torrey Pines," above the Los Penasquitos Lagoon just south of the town of Del Mar. It was a bit overgrown since Mitchell was there some time ago, but still beautiful, nonetheless.
Victoria Beach, Laguna
Rick J. Delanty
oil
8 x 10 inches (L x W)
Anna Hills was a prolific artist and engaged leader in the Laguna Art Community. I felt like I was painting in a place she might have discovered early in the 20th century, when I set up to paint these homes wonderfully located at the edge of the ocean in Laguna Beach.
West Street, Laguna
Rick J. Delanty
oil
16 x 20 inches (L x W)
Joane Cromwell had found an elevated spot to set up her easel to paint her observations of West Beach in Laguna. She titled her work "Coast Royale." I , too, found an elevated spot , from which to observe Camel Rock and the distant cliffs of Laguna town.
