5/11/2020 - 7/31/2020A Volcano of Passion Stirs my Heart When I See You
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
38 x 55 inches (L x W)
"These old vineyards, on the slopes of poor and stony soil give it a lush appearance, the branches, failing to be pruned, lengthen their shoots to rest on the ground. And it brings me visions, the vineyards, of people at the time of grape harvest. Now in solitude, I glimpse your figure among the vines, picking the ripe fruit, a passion rises up through my veins to have you by my side." ~Ramon Vilanova
Affirmation

We are finally seeing a time when men and women are less likely to objectify each other. A large group of humans are evolving to the realization that there is little progress when we don't appreciate each other as fellow humans. We all have our talents and gifts so we need to let them shine forth without shyness, shame or apology. It matters not if she is made up of larger curves than her athletic sisters. Maybe her heart is bigger than her pocket book. Maybe her mind is sharper than her situation. In all cases we need to stand proud in AFFIRMATION that we are being the best humans we can be to ourselves and each other. As a counterpart to my Illumination sculpture, she is open and honest, vulnerable yet powerful. Timeless but exactly for our time. ~ Paige Bradley
At that Hour the Awakening of Beauty Grows in the Heart
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
25 x 32 inches (L x W)
"The almond tree, native to Western Asia, is ornate due to the contrast produced by its clustered white or pink flowers, which appear very early, before the leaves. The struggle of this almond tree to survive the constant stalking of bushes, weeds and the abandonment of man is titanic. As the morning progresses a golden one seems to come down from the sky to land on the almond tree like a halo of light that appreciates my presence and reaches my heart." ~Ramon Vilanova
Autumn is the Hotbed of Laughter and Songs
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
39 x 39 inches (L x W)
"Vineyards abandoned to their fate and will gradually give up as they are devoured by invasive wild plants with more roots. While I paint with colors intermingled with the pallet knife, this autumn afternoon I observe how the deciduous plants are drying and their seeds are scattered everywhere to persevere the species. I ponder that next year the answer to my canvases will be that the seeds of laughter and songs of the harvest will not germinate, just as the immense sadness did not germinate this year." ~Ramon Vilanova
Crystal Clear Afternoon
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
29 x 36 inches (L x W)
"On hot days, a quiet, calm road is appreciated if the air leaves a whisper of freshness among the leaves of the trees. Absorbed by following the light of the shadows, only the intellect would allow to be disturbed by the distant vision in the way of a feminine silhouette, worthy of a small written poem." ~ Ramon Vilanova

From the Creek Hardly Any Water Come Down, Instead a Yellow Mantle Covers Its Channel
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
29 x 36 inches (L x W)
"In streams and torrents, the Rudbeckia lives at will. It is a striking splendid yellow flower in the shape of a daisy. It is an invasive plant; its size is usually 60 to 100 cm; it blooms all summer until early autumn. It is an astonishment to find you with an extensive clear yellow mantle, which covers everything with uneven waves, covering the channel of the stream to collect the little water that flows through it. They eyes widen to cover space and the pupil shrinks as it contemplates so much light, a garden for you, I perceive your laughter suspended in the air, walking away, hiding, and playing without malice." ~Ramon Vilanova

Kazakh Tea Party
Melissa Hefferlin
Pastel on Paper
16 x 22 inches (L x W)
In this tea ceremony, rooted in centuries old tradition, Melissa takes an interesting perspective for this Kazakhstan inspired still life. The kettle creates a beautiful reflection that draws the eye inward. Her use of pastel creates the perfect movement and tone, note the pop of bright color with the lemon… We love the muted reflectivity of the silver surface set paired with the vibrancy of the tapestry behind… Stunningly excellent!
Lilies Join Hands to Surround a Space
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
25 x 32 inches (L x W)
"We commonly call Iris lilies. Iris was the Greek messenger coming down to earth following the curve of the rainbow. Plants, like humans, grown in families colonizing spaces, the Iris laugh and talk about poetry during the day, and at night they share solitude with the wink of a moonbeam." ~ Ramon Vilanova

Myriad of Reds Pile Up to Hide in the Distance
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
77 x 29 inches (L x W)
"A field of rapeseed, a variety of turnip from whose seed rapeseed oil is extracted. A very steep field, which at random from the rain marked small furrows that facilitated the development of poppy seeds. A rare experience for a cloudy day, a powerful red cry comes from the earth and follows a path upwards, foreshadowing a storm at the top. Dark oaks, like birds, wait stoically at the summit, without taking flight." ~Ramon Vilanova

″The concept for this collection of paintings came from my trips to Maine over the last 14 Years. As a traditionally-trained painter, I have done many paintings using a classical approach to landscape. In my recent visits, I wanted to inspect close-up the layers of the familiar land and sea in order to study their most basic nature.Simultaneously, I wanted to ask myself what are the sub-layers that make us human? What do the small details look like that make us who we are? As our lives have evolved into sound bites and Twitter feeds we frequently judge others on first impressions and miss the details of who people are. I’m guilty of that as well.I became fascinated with the Cherokee concept that pools of water are portals to another reality. I found this idea interesting and mysterious. I decided to combine paintings of high tide and low tide water that come and go with paintings of pools of water that stay put year round. Formally I was interested in the aesthetic aspect of the micro versus macro views, something that continues to pull me.I remember when I was taking these photographs and doing studies, I thought that those underwater pebble fields looked like NASA’s pictures of the far universe and that those pebbles actually came from those far away places, as all of us might have done. The pools became my portals to the discovery of life’s mysteries and my search for balance.-Timur Akhriev

Righteous
Melissa Hefferlin
Oil on Linen
32 x 21 inches (L x W)
The colors here are off the charts, well blended, and richly fulfilling to art lovers. The shapes too invite the viewer to roam across the composition. The more you look the more the artist brings you to love. Note the well-worn copper kettle and soft colors of the background giving balance to the bright subject. A stately work of art from an artist who must love every day that finds her… creating fine art. Our bet (and hope) is that you have a place already in mind for this righteous work of art.
Romances of Loves are Lost Among Poppies
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
26 x 57 inches (L x W)
"In forage fields, for farm animals, poppies often prevail, by color, quantity, at birth. In the distance a sea asleep in red and nearby, lips of intense red open in each flower, next to the continuous, unopened concealed kisses of new poppies, asking for a new romance of love. The dream fades into the distance of the horizon, and into mine with them." ~ Ramon Vilanova

Soon, Dusk, You will Draw Dark Silhouettes Between the Light of the Moon
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
24 x 51 inches (L x W)
"An Olive Grove, feeling an exercise, seated and on guard to fight. I wish for a clear afternoon, with the impression of being immersed in solid sculptures, I being to paint, as the afternoon declines, the nearest sentries prepare, lined up for the arrival of night, ready the army to win a new dawn." ~Ramon Vilanova
The Absence of Sun Leaves Deficiencies of Passionate Wealth
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
29 x 36 inches (L x W)
"Field in a sabbatical year of cultivation, its retention of fertilizer from the previous sown, prosper wild seeds. Poppies, open in bouquets hope to be the attention of the walker, a stroke of love in its path, planted next to the easel, our romantic relationship begins. As it progresses in the afternoon the sun hides behind a mountain that despite its holography ends up being swallowed. Its temperature illumination will still last, in the distance, but here all the effervescence that had bloomed recedes leaving a nostalgia of passion." ~Ramon Vilanova
The Barren Lands have a Restful Harmony
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
25 x 36 inches (L x W)
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “The sky is the daily bread of the eyes”, and what a feast has been set through the masterful vision of Ramon Vilanova! A restful harmony softly settles as the sun shimmers off low-lying clouds, encouraging rest and relaxation. A moment which most artists would have passed by is brought into clear consciousness by Vilanova; complex details are subtly displayed creating a most pleasing palette of colors. A strong example of what a great artist can achieve from anything encountered. We love the foreground, mid-range and deep distance in this complete and total masterpiece.
"Fields forgotten in time, but close to the spirit of nostalgia with a tenuous voice and fresh breath in the environment, everything remains still and silent." ~Ramon Vilanova
The Blue Teapot
Melissa Hefferlin
Pastel on Paper
22.5 x 37.5 inches (L x W)
Crystal clear bottles join a charming and colorful teapot in a field of woven color that is the natural playground for Melissa’s views… the magical bunny. Here is a composition that emphasizes color, clarity, and the way life looks in the soft light of day. Hefferlin ranks among the very best still-life artists and we find The Blue Teapot to be one of the best pastel offerings we’ve seen. So much to see, enjoy, and hopefully it will become a part of your daily life.
The Sun Blushes at Your Close Heartbeat
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
25 x 32 inches (L x W)
"Neighborhood road with little traffic. The almond trees whitewash the way for you to pass, the Sun with an open heart, just like mine when I sense you are close, it beats fast, and the closer you are the faster it beats." ~Ramon Vilanova
You are in My Thoughts
Ramon Vilanova
Oil on Linen
32 x 39 inches (L x W)
"Between a torrent and under cover of a road, in a small corner, they dispute a place to look for beautiful poppies. All the intensity of loving is reflected in this myriad of intense reds, other times of fragile and delicate nuances, with small groups of additional color notes." ~Ramon Vilanova
