Artist Lynda Kodwyck is a full-time painter specializing in, but not limited to, creating gently impressionistic seascapes and portraits using oil on canvas, linen and copper.
Regardless of subject matter, using life references is crucial to the way she creates art. She is classically trained, studying fine art at the University of New Hampshire, and thinks of herself as an interpretive artist. “My intention, when I paint seascapes and en plein air,” says Kodwyck, “is two-fold: to depict my personal interpretation of my subject by capturing mood, light and colors in an accurate manner and to capture the imaginations and emotions of viewers just as the subject captured mine.”
Prior to painting seascapes, Kodwyck specialized in portraiture, but for her, there was, and is, no escaping the power and pull of the great Atlantic. Her paintings hang in collections and grace homes throughout the Eastern U.S. and abroad. —
